Meet Every Song

01

L.A. Ditty

A peppy number highlighting an Ovation acoustic guitar and Steinway Grand piano sharing dual lead duties. The interplay between these two makes this song special.

02

Solid Ground

A dedicated heavy-metal rocker built on a fabulous riff, keying off a massively heavy drum line. Once the core riff is established, a corresponding chorus groove forces the tune to a new level.

03

First World Blues

A different take on the 12-bar blues. Very open, with a nylon-stringed Alhambra 5P classical guitar playing lead, augmented by an echo-heavy electric. Kind of a Hot Tuna vibe.

04

Seabreeze Blue

Very open and spacey. Uses some synth pads and strings in a somewhat alternative arrangement. Features experimental guitar lead work throughout.

05

String Soul

The band aimed toward a ’70s rhythm and blues feel, with liberal use of horns in the mix. The horns take the lead in this one, with guitars enhancing the beat.

06

Hear Again

Multiple guitars drive the beat in this acoustic/electric number. Many interactions between lead, rhythm and bass players. Pure Stratocaster-based lead.

07

Molly Madness

Back to basics — electric guitar, bass and drums. Using the neck pickup on a Les Paul Standard. Some great interaction between bass and drums throughout.

08

Twice as Much

A lot going here. Two drummers, piano and Hammond B3 all adding to the mix. A great breakdown with a clear expressive lead guitar.

09

Mexican Journey

Another prominent use of horns in this rocker. Originally created in the ’90s and now fully updated. The horns take over completely in the final few bars.

10

Starburst Tragedy

A great tune using a unique and memorable chord structure, as well as liberal use of the Mellotron — an instrument popular in 1970s prog bands.
